Grammar (Kindergarten-6th Grade)
Curriculum
Instruction in the grammar school (Kindergarten-6th grade) focuses on six core academic disciplines: History, Bible, English & Literature, Mathematics, Science, and Latin. Grammar school students are introduced to the foundational facts or “grammar” of each of these disciplines. You will see students sing, recite poetry, and complete projects and journals as they obtain the foundational knowledge necessary for more advanced studies. The approach to history brings it to life through narrative and linear study while developing an understanding for a more advanced study in later school years. Also, instruction in music and art develops creative gifts and a deeper understanding of beauty and history. Physical education is also taught to help develop healthy students.
To encourage the love of goodness, beauty, and truth, students are exposed to the best in children’s literature. Writing is taught by teaching formal grammar and diagramming, as well as by developing well-written sentences, paragraphs, and essays by imitating the great writers of history.
Location

School Tours and Visits
We encourage you to plan a visit to our campus for a personal tour. We feel visiting our campus in person is the best way to know if Covenant Christian School is where God is leading you for your child’s education. We’d love to meet you and your family.
Daily Schedule
Grammar students in 1st through 6th grade begin each day with Chapel. Chapel is a time of prayer, singing hymns, and devotions. Teachers use a story-based, chronological curriculum for Bible. This foundation prepares the student for more advanced study in biblical interpretation, doctrine, and apologetics at the upper school level. Through the teachers’ personal examples and instruction, they apply a biblical worldview in every subject, training the students to think with a Christian approach.
